What is politeness? It's the grease of human relations - it makes things flow more smoothly. Or it's an archaic and arbitrary standard set by people long dead which only serves to separate classes. I can look down at you because you don't know how to hold your teacup and saucer.

Well, I like this one the best, courtesy of my salada tea line this morning: Politeness is the art of choosing the thoughts you express. You don't have to make up new thoughts, and you don't have to restrain yourself from having other, "non-polite" thoughts. You simply choose when and where and to whom you express them.

I consider a plastic grocery bag to be the basic unit of luggage.

Last night I stayed up late playing MarioKart on an emulator. It's nice, see, because you can save the state at any point. I'm finding the races really difficult, but what's really frustrating is that one bad turn can ruin the whole race. That's where state saving comes in - if I'm winning, I save the state and then if I screw up I can restart from the middle of the race. It's a bit hard to transition into a saved state, but it's worth it. Is this cheating? Probably, but I'm just trying to unlock the secret races.

I don't want to sound like Seinfeld, but have you ever thought about how cool libraries are? I'm just thinking of this now because I have to return a book that the Jedi Princess checked out a few weeks ago today at lunch. It's really amazing that we could agree that reading is important enough that everyone should be able to do it for free. Free! Here in our capitalist society, libraries are unbeleivable - and they don't break the system somehow. Makes you wonder what kind of threat Napster ever posed to the music industry. But I'm not going into that shark-infested wading pool.

Jedi Princess and I watched Labyrinth last night again. Good movie.
