Games Played: Call My Bluff, 6 Nimmt!, Carcassonne, Set
Gamers: Vitas, Ralph, Rob, Chip, Lewis, Sara, Jessica, Mike, Harlan
Thanks to everyone for coming. We had a good crowd.
Vitas arrived first, and we played a quick duel of Magic. I played a green threshold deck (featuring Roar of the Worm which got a 6/6 worm token in play on turn 4), which defeated his black fear deck in 6 turns. By then, Rob, Ralph, and Lewis showed up, so we started with a quick bluffing game.
CALL MY BLUFF (0:35)
Rob: won
Chip: second
Ralph: third
Vitas: fourth
Lewis: fifth
Sara: sixth
On the first turn, the bidding got up to some outrageous number, like 18 fives. Sara called, which should have been a pretty safe move, but ended up losing almost all of her dice.
I hadn't played this game in a while, and I'm glad it got back on the table.
Mike arrived next with his daughter, Jessica. They joined us for an 8-player game of 6 Nimmt!
6 NIMMT! (0:40)
Ralph: 30
Rob: 30
Mike: 56
Lewis: 58
Chip: 62
Jessica:72
Sara: 74
Vitas: 74
I got off to a horrible start, picking up over half of my 62 bulls on the first round. Saying, "I think I've finally figured out this game" is just asking for trouble. The final scores were a bit unusualy with ties for first and last place.
Vitas, Rob, and Lewis played Shark, and the rest of us played Carcassonne.
CARCASSONNE: BUILDERS AND TRADERS (with expansion) (1:15)
Ralph: 89
Harlan: 83
Mike: 54
Chip: 52
Jessica:49
Sara: 42
This was my first time playing this version of Carcassonne, and, not surprisingly, I will do things differently next time. The builders are my favorite addition to the game, I like being able to place additional tiles. I tried to get my builder into a castle with another player's builder, but this wasn't to be. I don't believe either of the castles with cathedrals (I had one, and I believe Jessica had the other) completed. Mike and Ralph fought over the main field, with Ralph winning by a single meeple.
I enjoy these tile-laying games, although I rarely do well in them.
We decided to end the evening with a game of Set.
SET (0:10)
Rob: 8
Sara: 5
Chip: 5
Vitas: 1
Mike: 1
Rob had to give back the most sets for calling out prematurely. This game was a little unusual in that we had to lay out three extra cards three times in a row. Perhaps we were all simply too tired.

No hidden agenda here. This is about FlyingSheep.com. Oh sure, some thoughts may seem to have nothing to do with Flying Sheep (the more mathematical thoughts in particular come to mind), but this will be an outward expression of the thoughts of the same entity that runs FlyingSheep.com.
