I just got this email from Mac:
"I just wanted to say how much I appreciate the lack of ads on your site, I was just at a site that had so many... "
I'm happy to hear someone appreciate FlyingSheep's no-ad policy. There are hardly any ad-free sites online anymore (at least, any that are worth going to). Even homepages are littered with ads and banners and buttons. I'd like to provide people with some sort of escape from the status quo on FlyingSheep. The web log you are reading now has ads as part of its free service. It takes money to remove ads from these pages.
Having said that, the obvious question is "How does FlyingSheep make enough money to keep the site running?". Well, the short answer is I don't. I've started a FlyingSheep store with cafepress.com, and every day I review the empty sales report. If you'd like to help out, go ahead and order a mug or a t-shirt from one of the FlyingSheep sites. Or just take a look at the store and make some suggestions on what you would be interested in buying.
Unlike other sites, I'm not going to plea with you to help keep FlyingSheep free from ads. FlyingSheep will always be free from ads. When I can no longer afford to keep FlyingSheep free from ads, I will simply close up shop.

No hidden agenda here. This is about FlyingSheep.com. Oh sure, some thoughts may seem to have nothing to do with Flying Sheep (the more mathematical thoughts in particular come to mind), but this will be an outward expression of the thoughts of the same entity that runs FlyingSheep.com.
