Phone rings. Protagonist picks it up, say, "Hello." "Yeah?" "What channel?" "Thanks". You know what's going to happen. He's going to turn on the tv (maybe flip to the right channel, maybe not), and see a television news show which is 100 % pertinent to the movie at hand.
Well, I'd like to see a movie in which he turns on the TV and the newsanchor is talking about the how to improve your credit rating, or a listing of local school closings, or the touching story of a cute little girl who fell down in the snow, or something that has absolutely nothing to do with the movie. That's what I'd like to see.
