A few thoughts today.

There's a chess match between a computer and the grand champion of the world (human). The human is defeated. What do you? Do you bemoan the defeat of a human at the hands (err... keys?) of a machine? Or do you celebrate the victory of one human over the other? After all, although the victory would not have been possible without the technology, it is still a creation of mankind. We've found a quicker and better way of processing information, we should be joyous.

Second thought. You may hear in the news (as I did) that physicians are considering asking patients to pay for phone calls and email correspondence. How dare they? Don't they realize that their time isn't worth anything? Once you decide to become a doctor, obviously, your patients come before your own personal greed and well-being. In fact, doctors should allow patients to live at their house rent-free, eat their food, sleep in their beds, and wait on them hand and foot. Being available for free at any time (especially the middle of the night) is only the beginning. Clearly this is a step in the wrong direction.
